Folklore Ensemble "Cajavec" was established on May 15th 1952 and during that time it elaborated and preformed in public more than 45 choreographies from all parts of ex Yugoslavia. Folklore lovers remember this top-level amateur Ensemble under the name of "Karlo Rojc", in the period from 1959-1993.
More than 5000 concerts, which were preformed in our country and abroad, were watched by more than 4 million people. Today, the folklore section is divided into 6 groups aging from 7-27, and children and big national orchestra. Altogether, these sections have more than 350 active members and there are more than 50 veterans and friends of the Ensemble. About 25-50 dancers perform on public concerts and the Ensemble has about 40-70 concerts a year, in our country and abroad.
KUD "Cajavec" has very rich holdings of national costumes and some of them are original patterns more than 80 years old. The fortune of today's holdings can be presented by the fact that nowadays more than 700 dancers can be costumed at the same time. In the past, as well as today, the best choreographers, ethnologists, ethno-choreographers and ethno-musicologists have been working with the Ensemble.
Folklore Ensemble "Cajavec" has 36 choreographies on its repertoire for now-stylistically elaborated national customs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and ex YU. That is why this Ensemble is one of the best in Bosnia, as well as in the Balkans.
